Whirlpool WTW5700XW

Cabrio 5700, September 11, 2010

Last week we purchased this Cabrio 5700 washer along with a 5600 dryer(non glass front,Great Buy!). We really did not need the washing machine as we have a Maytag conventional 2 years old; however our original GE dryer died & we went ahead & bought anyway because of the fantastic Labor day sales & 0 in rebates from the local power company & State. We do a lot of laundry. We have two young boys who get clothes dirty, quickly & my wife an I also have uniforms that need frequent washing. I am always a skeptic & overly research items, peruse product reviews into the wee hours of the morning, basically become a bit obsessive over the whole deal (per wife).

As I write, I am conducting yet another experiment to see what this thing can handle. It is on the Heavy Duty cycle-Heavy soil-cool water- Deep clean option. I have in the machine, 6 pair of 11 oz canvas hiking pants, 1 pair of bluejeans (all sized 36/34) & two thick Field-n-Stream non lined flannel shirts. The…

A Total NIGHTMARE !, April 3, 2011

It’s pretty to look at & I loved the glass look-in top, but you can’t judge a washer by the cover !

We had this washer delivered this morning & after the delivery men left we decided to immediately do a load of jeans. It is ANNOYINGLY LOUD, extremely loud. It makes a “reeeek” “reeeeeek” “reeeeeeek” loud noise that was beginning to give us a major headache. We even closed the laundry room door & stood all the way by our back door & we could still hear it! It sounded like it needed to be put out of it’s misery.. It takes something like 45 minutes to wash one load of clothes!!! And I have to mention the jeans were so twisted & wrinkled it was a job to smooth them out. It also stated in the manual to button & zip up the jeans which we did & that was a MAJOR hassle! With the glass top we were able to watch the jeans washing (like little children with a new toy) & noticed there was one jean leg that never did get sucked down with the rest.

Worst washing machine ever., January 18, 2011

This is the worst washing machine ever. If it was intended to create a machine that fails to wash soap out of clothes, wrinkled clothing beyond recognition & was noisy, then this machine totally fits the intended purpose. We have owned ours now for a week & after trying all the troubleshooting information in the manual, tried different methods of piling clothes in the tub, tried light & heavy loads, mixing fabric types, very light amounts of High Efficiency soap, & basically anything else that would salvage our experience with this machine. It won’t even clean loads that have been washed with soap, & then re-washed without soap. The clothes get wrinkled so badly that no amount of rinsing gets inside the folds of fabric. So any dark fabrics end up with white spots all over them.

I will add that the machine is also really noisy, at least when compared to our old Kenmore Elite agitator machine. We got 20 years of service out of that machine without any problems…
